To make every Hyster equipment safer for the operator and the other work site personnel, all Hyster forklifts could be equipped with many of the optional and standard features. These features comprise: audible devices, safety lights, ergonomic operator compartments and operator restraint systems.

To be able to help alert others of a nearby or approaching forklift, visual safety devices like strobe lights could help. There is a low-mounted strobe light that has a shield to help avoid the light shining into the driver's eyes.

Reverse operation alarms are examples of audible warning devices that sound automatically when the forklift is backing up. This would help to warn other pedestrians and personnel of the presence lift truck. A rear drive handle with horn allows the driver's hand to be secure when reversing. This inboard handle protects the operator's hand in the event of impact and the handle includes a horn which enables the driver to sound the horn without having to move their hand to the main steering wheel.

Anti-Cinch Seat Belt and Hip Restraints are basic features on all current units of Yale/Hyster lift trucks. For older Hyster/Yale lift trucks, safety restraint systems can be installed on nearly all models.
